The islands of the South Pacific conjure up dreams of romantic charm and escape from the pressures of modern life. Temptation came in the form of a 14 day cruise called Pacific Treasures. We’d experienced the really; we’d been there before and we knew just how it felt to be sitting under a coconut tree, fanned by just perfect ocean breezes, listening to the gentle sea swells as they came rushing onto a perfect talcum powdered sandy beach. The oceans is coloured royal blue further out and turquoise just before the surf-line. Below thousands of tiny tropical fish switch on the electric displays of colours that make a Dulux paint chart look rather bland. Some carry the sign: Hey, welcome to our world!
This is the photo story of a cruise aboard the Holland America Lines MS Oosterdam. It departed Sydney, Australia and the destinations included stops in the South Pacific countries of New Caledonia, Fiji and Vanuatu. There were 6 sea days and 5 days spent on some of the most delightful islands of the Pacific and port days in Noumea, Lautoka and Port Vila.
